About Our Founder Michael McGinnis
Michael McGinnis grew up in Dayton, Ohio and continuously played sports until college, when he realized his passion for improving the lives of student athletes through empowerment, education, and knowledge of the sports business model. Understanding legal, finance, and player development is key to the success of an athlete and Michael is well versed to help student athletes and their families navigate the landscape.
Michael attended the University of Dayton and completed a Bachelor’s in Sports Management with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. He then earned a law degree while working with an MLB agent and taking on an advisory role with a start-up NBA agency, until he decided to start his own advisory and consulting business. ESG is about more than simply hiring a sports agent or draft advisor. You are bringing on a diverse team of seasoned professionals that take a unique approach to helping student athletes navigate life within the game and beyond. Michael’s knowledge of the MLB Draft, NBA Draft, and overall player development helps him position athletes to be empowered in the process.
Michael has worked on multi-million and multi-billion-dollar contracts with the federal government, and now, has nearly a decade of experience negotiating major contracts and advising athletes within the MLB and NBA systems.
About Our National Crosschecker & MLB Draft Adviser
Joseph Guzman graduated from Florida Memorial University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Minor in Aviation. He graduated with Cum Laude Honors and part of the National Honor Math Society Mu Alpha Theta.
He has over 6 years’ experience as adviser, mentor, and talent recruiter. His coaching positions include work with the Kansas City Royals organization at their Dominican Academy giving instruction, as well as mentoring their recently signed Latin American prospects. He was also an assistant Cultural Development Coordinator with the Royals, teaching the young prospects English. Following the opportunity with the Royals, Joseph was an assistant coach for the Covington Lumberjacks of the Valley League where he helped them to a playoff appearance. During the same time, he worked on coaching many players who ended up signing professional baseball contracts.
Further, he has also worked for the Power Showcase Company as a scout, recruiting talented players for the event from around the world. These experiences led Joseph to the agency industry, where he excelled in his first year as a scouting supervisor for DSIBA, helping procure many draft picks and international signs through recruitment and research. Joseph was promoted to Global Supervisor of Baseball Operations for the agency after his first year. His duties included full oversight of all baseball operations, scouting and is also an MLB Draft Adviser. He is known throughout the baseball community for his charismatic personality and extreme work ethic that gets positive results. He strongly values the relationships he establishes with clients and families during his advising process.
In the span of 4 years at the agency, Joseph recruited over 20 Draft Picks and Free agent signs. During those same 4 years, he identified an additional 45 guys who went on to be MLB draft picks. He also has several years of experience negotiating domestic and international contracts for clients. Additionally, he signed 8 more professional players to the agency, two of which had several years of MLB experience.
